    Abstract:

Aiming at the problems of difficult processing and high loss rate of fresh lotus seeds peeling, a multi-channel integrated peeling mechanism was designed. The mechanism was composed of multi-channel profiling grooved wheel, outer blade tooth plate, outer and inner cutter head, etc., which would realize single lotus seed discharge, posture adjustment and circular cutting. The profiling groove can protect lotus seeds from damage caused by cutting and conveying extrusion. Through theoretical analysis and parameter calculation of the working process of the shelling mechanism, the main structure and working parameters affecting the shelling performance were determined. The influence of tooth shape structure, blade pitch, tooth spacing and shell wheel speed on lotus seed discharge and posture adjustment was analyzed by EDEM discrete element software. The ADAMS virtual prototype software was employed to simulate the trajectory of lotus seed in the shelling mechanism. After that, the prototype was trial produced according to the theoretical calculation and simulation analysis, and the experimental verification was carried out on the prototype. The no. 36 space lotus seeds with water content greater than 64.2%, which was produced in Honghu City, Hubei Province, were taken as the experimental object. The effects of tooth shape, blade pitch and tooth spacing on shelling performance were investigated by single factor experiment and orthogonal experiment. The experiment results indicated that the shelling rate was 97% when the tooth spacing and blade pitch were 5mm and 82mm, respectively, by using the centripetal teeth. The results showed that the proposed shelling mechanism can meet the actual production needs of lotus seed shelling in milk and wax ripening stages, which had a good application prospect in lotus industry.
