    Abstract:

A mixed-flow pump hydraulic model was designed using velocity modulus and similar conversion method. To investigate the 3-D turbulent flows in impeller passage of mixed-flow pump, its blades were modeled by Pro/E software with bicubic Bezier curve surfaces. Utilizing Gambit software to generate the unstructured grids of the passage in impeller and define its boundary conditions, the internal 3-D uncompressible turbulent flows of impeller at design condition were simulated by Fluent software on the basis of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations, standard k-εturbulent model and SIMPLE arithmetic. The calculated velocity distributions and pressure distributions of the turbulent flow in the mixed-flow pump were obtained and analyzed. Finally, the performance tests were carried out, and the experimental results showed that the pump performance could meet the design requirements.
