    Abstract:

Do not take into account the influence of wind velocity, many semi-empirical and semi-theoretical formulas are proposed to solve the nozzle rotational sprinkler range. But in practically occasions, water-drop trajectories, velocities and range are altered by wind. Based on Newton's second law and aerodynamics principle, taking into account the wind velocity on the droplet travel, a 3-D theoretical model for the irrigation sprinkler nozzle range was established. Then, the model was tested and consequently compared with field experiments and other authors' formulas results. The results show a very good agreement for most cases, and the model is applicable to all other kinds of sprinklers. The average relative error is 8%, which is greatly below that of other formulas.
