    Abstract:

The time delay of the variable spraying system is one of the most important factors affecting the application accuracy. The results of experimental and theoretical analysis were combined, the flying time of different size droplet at different heights below the nozzle was ascertained and the mutative orderliness of the droplet distributing was analyzed. The results suggested that the tangential airflow affected the droplet distributing remarkably. The droplets below 50 μm lost their velocity quickly and suspended in the air. The droplet would integrate with others to form larger droplet, or be blown away by the wind easily. The droplet above 200 μm arrived at the targets rapidly. The flying time was about 0.1 s and the velocity was about 1.9 m/s. This indicated that the drifting distance of the droplet would not be too long though under the effect of wind.
